GALA is a non-profit, international industry association for the translation, internationalization, localization, and globalization industry. Sank will bring over 10 years of experience in the localization industry, as well as an extensive M&A track record, to the Board. As Vice President of Corporate Strategy for TransPerfect, Sank has successfully negotiated and closed merger transactions with Crimson, ArchiText, and iSP. Working with incoming management, Sank has also contributed to the integration, retention of staff, growth, and overall success of these merger partners within the TransPerfect framework.
Hans Fenstermacher, Division President of ArchiText and a founder of GALA in 2002, worked extensively with Sank on the ArchiText merger. "GALA has done an impressive job representing the interests of this industry and helping it move forward. Having worked closely with Mike, I'm certain he will be an asset to the GALA Board," stated Fenstermacher.
Over his two-year term, Sank will work with the other GALA board members on implementing the GALA 2010 Plan, a three-year growth plan intended to support the organization's goals developed in 2006. These goals include improving the organization's visibility in the industry, improving member participation through workshops and certification programs, and expanding the functions of the Board.
Sank will be serving a two-year term, starting on January 1, 2008. He joins a 6-member Board made up of industry executives from around the world.
